Bowie had studied under art teacher Owen Frampton (father of Peter Frampton) at Bromley Technical High School in the 1960s, and at this early age displayed a talent and enthusiasm for drawing and painting. In the mid 1960s, Bowie spent brief periods of time working for an advertising agency and studying at Croydon College of Art, before commiting more fully to his performance career. However, he never lost his passion for visual arts, regularly sketching, painting, designing and collecting artworks across his life. \n\nIt is unknown exactly when this paint pallete was used by Bowie, but thick layers of paint suggest it may have been used over a long period. In a 1998 interview with<i> The New York Times</i>, Bowie said of facing creative obstacles... “I would often revert to drawing it out or painting it out.
