He began his career in the early 1990s working in a news press agency as a dark room printer before moving into the music scene as a photographer. He has worked for national UK publications including NME, Smash Hits and Select magazine, and other international titles including Rolling Stone Australia.\n\nThis photograph was taken during an editorial shoot for deuce, a music magazine published during the early 2000s specialising in UK Garage, R&B and Hip Hop. Wiley (left), MC, producer, and creator of the Grime genre, is pictured with his then-mentee, Dizzee Rascal (right), in front of the Crossways Estate, locally referred to as ‘The Three Flats’, in Bow, East London. \r\n\r\nWiley cemented his position as a musical pioneer in the early 2000s through the release of his ‘eskibeat’ instrumental tracks created on basic computer software, formulating a new genre that earned him the title ‘Godfather of Grime’, and in 2017 he was awarded an MBE for his services to music. However, following his publishing of antisemitic comments on various social media profiles in 2020, his MBE was revoked and his accounts suspended. \r\n\r\nDizzee Rascal is widely regarded as a trailblazer for British rap and Grime. He began his musical career as a member of the Grime collective Roll Deep, before releasing his debut album, Boy in Da Corner, in 2003, and becoming the first Grime artist to win the Mercury Prize Award. His fourth album, Tongue n’ Cheek (2009) included four No. 1 singles and won him Best British Male Solo Artist at the 2010 BRIT Awards. In 2012 he performed at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics. \r\n","physicalDescription":"A black and white photograph of British Grime MCs Wiley (left) and Dizzee Rascal (right) sat on a wall in front of three blocks of flats, the Crossways Estate in Bow, East London.
