Bowie favoured 12-string guitars both for recording and live performance in his early career due to their ability to create full, warm, layered sound.\r\n\nThe headstock of this guitar has a distinctive break in it. It also used to have pickups attached with tape or putty, which have since become detached, leaving behind residue on either side of the soundhole.\n\r\nThis broken headstock means that this guitar can be recognised as being reused on <i>The Serious Moonlight Tour </i>in 1983.
