The bodysuit is formed of elastic, which is knotted and woven very loosely to create large asymmetrical patterned holes and a cobweb effect.\n\n<b>Part 2: Legging</b>\nA single gold coloured glitter legging, to be worn on the left leg. Made of slightly stretchy material, with a metal zip at the ankle and hip. Where there would be a right leg, there is instead a small hot-pant area. There is a long string made of the same glittery fabric, designed to be crossed over and tied around the waist. \n\n<b>Part 3: Sleeve</b>\nA single gold coloured glitter sleeve, worn over hand and up above the elbow. Designed to be worn on the right arm. Has a more narrow end with a small loop which can be worn over a finger.\n\n<b>Parts 4-5: Prop hands</b>\nTwo large sculpted prop hands, made of hollow plaster. The hands are coated inn a thick layer of bright yellow-gold glitter. There are acrylic nails stuck onto each finger, painted with shiny black paint. The palms of the hands are less coated in glitter, and so bronze paint is visible. The hands are sculpted in a curved shape, so that they would cup over the chest. and tailor who was a close friend and collaborator of David Bowie from the late 1960s  until the mid 1970s. Burretti designed many of the earliest and most recognisable Ziggy Stardust outfits worn both on and off stage, and worked closely with Bowie to establish the overall Ziggy “look”. Natasha Korniloff was a Russian-born costume designer, who was introduced to David Bowie in the late 1960s by mime artist Lindsey Kemp. Korniloff went on to design many costumes for Bowie throughout the 70s. \n\nThis costume was worn to perform the song 'The Jean Genie' in <i>The 1980 Floor Show</i>. The overall look for this costume was sketched by Bowie, and can be found in DBA/2/1/4/3 . Korniloff had already created several cream web catsuits, inspired by the costumes of Ballet Rambert’s performance of Ziggurat, for Bowie's backing dancers during the<i> Ziggy Stardust </i>tour. This sketch invisioned a black version for the basis of the costume. \n\nThe sketch then details that gold prop hands should be added, and can be purchased from a 'prop shop at Church Street'. It has been suggested that the design of the hands may have been inspired by a jacket owned by musician David Clark Allen, and perhaps the costume worn by Anita Pallenberg in the film <i>Barbarella</i>. Three of these gold glitter hands were bought; two to cover Bowie's chest, and one to cover his crotch. However, NBC were concerned that the suggestively placed hand was too shocking for American audiences. Freddie Burretti was called on to create the gold leggings and sleeve instead, and the third hand was disposed of.
