It celebrates exceptional artists who have shaped the British music industry and had sustained impact and success. \n\nThe 2016 BRIT Awards were held on the 24th February at The O2 Arena. David Bowie, having passed away a month earlier, was posthumously presented with this BRIT Icon Award. The award was presented by Annie Lennox, and accepted on behalf of Bowie by his long-time friend Gary Oldman. The awards also featured a musical tribute to Bowie by the artist Lorde, accompanied by members of Bowie's touring band.
