She has conveyed these concepts through the modality of collage, which she feels has allowed her to meld and highlight the intersections between private and public spheres of her life.\r\n\r\nLeonard was among the most captivating collage artists working in America between 1970 and about 1990. If acquired, the V&A would be the first institution in the country to hold her work, which is also held in major American institutions including MoMA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, LACMA, and the International Centre for Photography. She was a professor at the University of Michigan for thirty-one years and was the Director of the Program in Visual Culture at the Institute for Research on Women and
