Friedman Theatre in New York (2018). Scale 1:48.\r\n\r\nThe Nap was written by British playwright \tRichard Bean and premiered at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield in 2016, transferring to Broadway in 2018. The Crucible has been the venue for the real life World Snooker Championship since 1977. The play follows rising snooker star Dylan Spokes, who is on the verge of winning the Championship. Focusing on working-class narratives, the play also encompasses match-fixing, betting, pub-culture and examines snooker’s roots in the British Raj. The production is unusual in that it requires a live snooker match to be played throughout. \r\n\r\nThe play also includes a transgender principal character. Whilst the role was played by a cis-gender female performer in Sheffield, the New York production cast Angela Billings in the role, making her the first openly trans performer to be cast in a trans role on Broadway.\r\n\r\nDavid Rockwell is an award-winning set designer and Founder/Director of the interdisciplinary architecture and design firm Rockwell Group, established in 1984. Rockwell’s Broadway debut was in 2000, when he designed the first New York revival of The Rocky Horror Show in 25 years. To date, he has designed over 60 plays and musicals for Broadway, the West End and international tours. In 2016, he won the Tony Award for Best Set Design for She Loves Me on Broadway.","physicalDescription":"A set model of a room with a black and white sign in the centre that reads 'WELCOME TO THE WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIPS'.
