Scale 1:48.\r\n\r\n<i>On the Twentieth Century</i> is a musical based partly on the 1932 play <i>Twentieth Century</i> and the 1934 film of the same name. The show is set almost wholly onboard a train as it travels from Chicago to New York, and follows the relationship of actress Lily Garland and theatre producer Oscar Jaffee. The show ran on Broadway between 1978 and 1979, and was revived in 2015. The revival was nominated for five Tony Awards (2015), including Best Scenic Design of a Musical.\r\n\r\nDavid Rockwell is an award-winning set designer and Founder/Director of the interdisciplinary  architecture and design firm Rockwell Group, established in 1984.  Rockwell’s Broadway debut  was in 2000, when he designed the first New York revival of <i>The Rocky Horror Show</i>  in 25  years. To date, he has designed over 60 plays and musicals for Broadway, the  West End and international tours. In 2016, he won the Tony Award for Best Set  Design for <i>She Loves Me</i> on Broadway.\r\n\r\n<I>On the Twentieth Century</i> has synergies with Rockwell’s own architectural career, having re-designed the dining concourse at Grand Central Terminal, New York and the American Airlines Theatre’s (now Todd Haimes Theatre) sky lobby. For the show, Rockwell designed a fleet of modular train carriage trucks which could track and revolve to show the carriage’s different areas.","physicalDescription":"A set model of a glass and steel railway station interior.
