The vest is sleeveless with a white cross with light blue detailing.\n\n<b>Part 3: Trousers</b>\nA pair of black straight-leg leather trousers. They have a slit in the rear, to allow the tail accessory seen in other costume to be worn with them. Sigismondi says of the video 'I was inspired by the works of Francis Bacon. The video was a surreal compilation of disjointed characters', while Nicolas Pegg describes the aesthetic of the video as 'mutant <i>Eraserhead</i> chic'. Most of the costumes for this video were designed by David Bowie himself, and sketches can be found in archive file DBA/2/1/27/5. The costumes have surreal, distorted, and distressed elements, creating a feeling of dystopian dreams or hallucinations.\n\nThis coat, worn by Bowie's bassist and music video co-star Gail Ann Dorsey, was developed from sketches by Bowie which clearly envisioned a patchwork frock-coat with layers of antique lace and a high collar. The use of patchworked football shirts appears to have been a later development.
