With wide, rounded lapels. Has dark blue satin piping around the collar and hems. Fastens with a single grey plastic button at the front, and with several on each cuff. It has two welt pockets at the front, and one patch pocket on the upper left breast. This pocket has an embroidered patch sewn on to it; it has a gold metallic moon against a blue background, with gold braiding. The jacket is lined with pale duck-egg blue silk. \n\n<b>Part 2: Trousers</b>\nLight grey/blue wool suit trousers. High waisted, with wide legs and turn-ups at the hems. Two welt pockets, one on each hip. The trousers have belt loops, and fasten with a concealed metal zip fly, metal hook and eye closure, and internal button. There are also several large plastic pearlescent buttons along the outside of the waistband. There are some hand sewn repairs inside. There is also a small label sewn into the inner waistband of the trousers, with handwriting in pen.\n\n<b>Part 3: Shirt</b>\nA long sleeved cotton button-up shirt, with collar. The collar and cuffs are white, while the rest of the shirt is a dusky denim blue. Buttons down the centre with white plastic buttons, and at each cuff. The bottom hem of the shirt is curved, and has a length of elastic sewn onto it which connects the front and back of the shirt.  There is very faint writing stamped inside the inner collar of the shirt.\n\n<b>Part 4: Braces</b>\nCream coloured braces, formed of thick bands of elastic attached to cream leather brace tabs. With silver metal connectors. \n\n<b>Part 5: Hat</b>\nA light beige wool fedora-style hat with a purple silk ribbon band, and cream button and elastic fastening. The inside of the hat is lined with leather and silk.\n\n<b>Part 6: Belt</b>\nCream leather belt with square gold buckle. Bowie cited his inspirations for his image in this era as 1950s Singaporean tailoring, Paul Newman, and Little Richard. Bowie commented that Hall was deeply involved in every part of the process, noting that Hall 'chose all the materials and came to see how everything would look under our lighting'. In return, Hall described Bowie as 'serious, intellectual, wonderful to work with'. \n\nNicholas Pegg writes in<i> The Complete David Bowie </i>that 'Bowie devised his two-piece pastel suits with wardrobe designer Peter Hall, whose work he had admired in recent New York productions of<i> La Bohème</i> and <i>Zoot Suit</i>. For most concerts David would begin in a powder-blue suit and striped schoolboy tie, changing during the 15-minute interval (usually between 'White Light/White Heat' and 'Station To Station') into a peach two-piece with a polka-dot bowtie slung around the collar. Other outfits included a lime-green suit and a white naval jacket with gold piping. His handsome thirtysomething features were highlighted by a candyfloss mop of peroxide hair'. \n\nJustin Quirk describes Bowie's aesthetic of this period as '...a world of Englishmen going slowly mad in the sun, dressed for a time and a lifestyle that no longer existed' and  writes that 'on the surface, Bowie’s 1983 reinvention was his move into the mainstream.
