Barnard connects her interests in aesthetics and truth in photography with issues concerning the current political climate, in particular global capitalism and the growing relationship between the military, digital technologies, and the psychological implication of conflict.\r\n\r\nIn Barnard’s project Hyenas of the Battlefield, Machines in the Garden the artist takes a critical view of the ‘holy trinity’ – the alliance between global armed forces and the entertainment industry, and where they coalesce in contemporary violence and modern warfare.
