He graduated from the Central Academy of Decorative Arts (now part of the School of Art and Design at Tsinghua University) and the Zhejiang University Art Academy (now the China Academy of Fine Arts). As a lecturer at Shanghai University Art Academy until 1998, he was selected to further his studies in glass art at the University of Wolverhampton in the UK. Upon his return to China in 2000, Zhuang committed himself to advancing the development of studio glass and fostering the growth of China’s glass industry. His work is characterized by minimalist aesthetics and abstract forms, emphasizing the dual nature of glass—its solidity and translucency—within sculptural expression.\n\nThis sculpture captures the graceful silhouette of a dancer in motion, arms raised and hands interlocked. The smooth surface of the glass, achieved by thorough polishing, emphasises the dancer’s \u0013 owing, elegant movement.
