As one of the founding members of the Société des Artistes Décorateurs in 1901, Follot considered decoration to be an essential component of good design and worked across many disciplines, from furniture and ceramics to fabrics and jewellery.\n\nIn the hope of expanding into the French market, Wedgwood opened a showroom in Paris in 1901 and established a relationship with the retailer, Georges Rouard. It was Rouard who recommended Paul Follot to Wedgwood’s managing director Cecil Wedgwood in 1911. Follot’s designs are elegant and opulent with a richness of materials and decoration. These wares were labour intensive and required exceptional skill to produce, which makes the Follot pieces for Wedgwood especially rare.
