The metal chain and clasp has been ornamented with 26 polychrome jasperware beads.\r\n\r\nJasperware jewellery was first made in the late 18th century, during the management of Josiah Wedgwood I (1730-95). Many small size cameos were made in jasperware, and were then mounted in either gold, ormolu, pinchbeck, silver or cut steel. Such jewellery included bead necklaces, brooches, bracelets, buckles, rings, earrings, hat pins, and pendants. Occasionally, jasperware cameos were inserted into tea caddies and ornamental wooden boxes. Production of jasperware jewellery continued until 2009.
