Senior Wedgwood personnel, including Norman Wilson and Ted Lawton, commenced exhaustive trials to ensure the suitability and durability of the heels. The first samples were shown in America at a fashion show event and became available in a number of colour combinations including blue and white, sage green and white, and lilac and white. The heels were available in stiletto and kitten versions, and medallions were sometimes used as extra ornamentation. Wedgwood Jasper shoe heels were issued again, for a short period of time, in the late 1970s.","physicalDescription":"Shoe, leather with jasperware and applied relief; high-heeled show with pointed toe, cream leather with blue band around opening and round jasperware medallion with white applied relief of a face attached to band, blue jasperware heel with applied relief of 'Hebe and the Eagle' in a laurel relief border, wooden tip attached to heel with screw","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Josiah Wedgwood and Sons","id":"A1450"},"association":{"text":"manufacturers","id":"AAT25230"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Rayne","id":"A5845"},"association":{"text":"manufacturers","id":"AAT25230"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"Jasper ware","id":"x30174"},{"text":"leather","id":"AAT11845"}],"techniques":[{"text":"relief","id":"AAT53622"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Leather, jasperware with applied reliefs","categories":[{"text":"V&A Wedgwood Collection","id":"THES276060"},{"text":"Jasperware","id":"THES48931"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"WED","id":"THES270009"},"images":["2023NM8614","2023NM8613"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"SHLN","id":"THES49063"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"shoes","id":"AAT46065"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Barlaston","id":"x31989"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1959","earliest":"1954-01-01","latest":"1963-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"V&A Wedgwood Collection.
