The set was given to the museum as a gift in the 1990s and has proved to be a very popular Christmas display.","physicalDescription":"Model of a gnomes workshop to include several gnome figures. The set comes in three parts, the backdrop, floor and a fir tree. The set is intended to be viewed from the front and back and shows the front facade of the wooden effect cabin workshop with an opening front door and shuttered windows. the tree sits in this part of the set. The inside of the workshop is painted white and has a large number of traditional toys and dolls hanging up or placed on shelves, the the gnomes have made for Christmas presents. There is also Christmas related objects in the interior such as a picture of Father Christmas and 3 stockings stuffed with presents.\n\n<u>Tree</u>\nPlastic dark green pine tree with  pine cones. Some branches and cones have been painted white to give the effect of snow. The trunk has a paper and paint bark effect whereas the group of logs at the base of the tree have been assembled using real twigs and branches of wood. The tree sits on a small base also made of wood.\n\n<u>Floor</u>\r\nFloor of a set for the gnomes workshop, a Christmas model set made for the museum. The floor has been painted with a wooden board effect for the interior and a rocky look for the outside parts. The interior floor is littered with further traditional toys and books that have been \"made\" by the gnomes of Christmas presents.\n\n<u>Wall</u>\nFolding wall of model workshop. Formed in three sections the main backdrop for the set is hinged to created three wall spaces. The outside of the walls represent the outside of the gnome workshop and have been painted and assembled to look like a traditional log cabin with a hinged front door and traditional wooden shutters on the window. Frayed rope fibres have been used on the roofline to give the impression of a thatched roof or a mossy ledge.\n\r\nThe interior side to the set is  painted white with  applied plywood to create a fake beam effect. there are paper cutouts off textile wall hangings stuck to the wall . There are many individually handmade made or manufactured miniature traditional toys and dolls mounted in the workshop on shelves or hooks. There are also references to Christmas with a frames image of Father Christmas and three present filled stocking in the set.
