Around the age of thirty he established himself as one of the most significant Punch cartoonists when he attracted the attention of Punch editor E.V. Knox. His most famous series of cartoons is British Character (one of which is included in this gift), which was published in book form in 1938. In the brief three-year career before his early death, Pont produced 400 cartoons.
