Her works display personal interpretations of Persian poems and stories, considering themes of oppression, suppression, violence, love, hope and envy. \r\n\r\nThis nine-panel work depicts a headless child being breast-fed in the arms of one of the most famous women in art history, the Mona Lisa. Although she weeps tears of blood, her face shows no signs of pain. Each panel in the portfolio adds a new layer to the image. The title of the work relates both to Leonardo da Vinci and Forough Farrokhzad, one of the standard-bearers of modern feminist Iranian literature. In one of the layers of this work, Ossouli includes verses from Farrokhzad's poem 'Terrestrial verses', which is about violence in society.","physicalDescription":"One of nine screenprints on paper.
