Written on handmade, wove writing paper. Many leaves have cancelled text on the verso (not in photocopies). Ink type is iron-gall. Manuscript is mounted on JPP Rag Endleaf Paper while the Japanese guard paper is Usumino B5 both supplied by John Purcell Paper, London.\r\nPreviously bound in 2 v.; rebound in 1993 in 4 v. in brown morocco half leather with marbled papers over boards. In drop back solander boxes.\r\nSpine title: Manuscript of American notes.\r\nThe writing paper is made up of 'Large Post' folio sheets that have been folded into bifolios, producing a 'Large Post' quarto, which were then torn in half by Dickens, mostly before writing.
