The Granby Four Streets regeneration project in Liverpool and associated Granby Workshop, delivered in collaboration with the Granby Four Streets  Community Land Trust (CLT), saw Assemble win the Turner Prize in 2015.\n\nGranby Four Streets is exemplary of Assemble’s commitment to community-led urban regeneration. The project is an ongoing  initiative to rebuild Granby, a Liverpool neighbourhood that was driven towards dereliction by decades of unsuccessful regeneration programmes. The project was spearheaded by a community of local residents, who formed the Granby Four Streets CLT in 2011 to drive regeneration efforts and bring the empty  terraces on Granby’s four remaining streets back into use as affordable homes. Assemble worked collaboratively with the CLT and Steinbeck Studios to deliver what they considered ‘a sustainable and incremental vision for the area that builds on the hard work already done by local residents’. Assemble’s holistic approach delivered designs for the refurbishment of existing, derelict Granby houses and public space alongside the provision of new work and enterprise opportunities. \"From the outset we agreed that a good neighbourhood needs more than just housing – we were actively looking for opportunities to support creative and community activity in the  area and promote sustainable local enterprise.” - Assemble\r\n","physicalDescription":"Section model (1:10) of a terrace house.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Assemble","id":"AUTH337744"},"association":{"text":"designer and maker","id":"x34662"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"timber","id":"AAT12827"},{"text":"paint","id":"AAT15029"}],"techniques":[{"text":"model making","id":"AAT53619"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"The model was handcrafted by Assemble members Joe Halligan  and Lewis Jones, made using a variety of timber offcuts and cork  panels found in their London studio.","categories":[{"text":"Architectural models","id":"THES274433"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2024NW1715","2024NW1711","2024NW1710","2024NW1714","2024NW1721","2024NW1720","2024NW1719","2024NW1718","2024NW1717","2024NW1716","2024NW1713","2024NW1712","2024NW1709","2024NW1708","2024NW1707","2024NW1706","2024NW1705","2024NW1704","2024NW1703","2024NW1702","2024NW1701"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"CA009","id":"THES413394"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"architectural model","id":"x44244"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2014","earliest":"2014-01-01","latest":"2014-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"965","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"1072","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Depth","value":"445","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Section model (1:10) of a terraced house on Cairns Street, Liverpool, Granby Four Streets project, designed by Assemble, timber, paint and mixed media, London, 2014","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"house","id":"AAT132989"}],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["E.195-2024"],"accessionNumberNum":"195","accessionNumberPrefix":"E","accessionYear":2024,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":["2024NW3522"],"recordModificationDate":"2025-11-04","recordCreationDate":"2023-07-12","availableToBook":false}}
