Rococo style came to England from France in the 1730s, was out of fashion by the 1770s and enjoyed a long revival from about 1820. English companies, such as Coalport, catered for the enthusiasm for eighteenth-century porcelain of French and German factories such as Sèvres and Meissen, with their extravagant forms and bright sugary colours.
