Wedgwood manufactured dejeuner/cabaret services from 1773 throughout the 18th and 19th century. They were made in Queen's ware, jasper, black basalt, and later bone china.\nBone china was introduced at Wedgwood for a short period from 1812 before being discontinued in 1822, although replacements for broken china were available until 1831. It was not until 1878 that bone-china production began in earnest at the Etruria factory and a full range of teaware and dinnerware was available. Historic Wedgwood designs such as this Imari-type pattern were also reintroduced, often transfer-printed and embellished with additional hand-painted decoration or gilding. Here, the ‘Old Japan’ pattern is used on a form called ‘Silver Shape’, reflecting Wedgwood’s continued combination of influences to create new products.","physicalDescription":"Creamer, oblong jug with gilded decoration around rim and border of floral designs, pointed finial on cover.\r\nCream jug, bone China with enamelling, gilding, and transfer printing.
