An official imperial court photographer since 1868, Adèle’s career had been highly honoured, and she included a number of her medals on the reverse of her carte de visites. \r\n \r\nAs well as photographing the royal courts, Adèle captured portraits of notable society individuals, as well as actors and actresses captured in everyday dress or theatrical costume, for ‘cartes de visite’, and later ‘cabinet cards’. Both were albumen prints made from glass negatives, attached to stiff card backing printed with the photographer’s name.\r\n \r\nAdèle’s contribution to the studio starts to dwindle around 1882; possibly to focus on her raising her three small children. Her brothers and their families reportedly ran two studios possibly as late as 1938 when Wilhelm’s son Ernst emigrated to Czechoslovakia. \r\n \r\nThe elderly photographer apparently stayed in Vienna until her death in 1941. It is assumed from a lack of records that her three children sadly did not survive the tyranny of the Nazi regime.
