The stove was constructed of majolica-glazed tiles set in an iron frame made by Hardman of Birmingham, some of the upper tiles, such as this one, being perforated. \r\n\r\nPugin was one of the leading figures of the Gothic Revival in England. They convey the kaleidoscopic colours that greeted visitors to the Medieval Court. The 'majolica-glazed' tiles, three centimetres thick and richly moulded, harness techniques developed by Minton's French artist, Léon Arnoux.
