Connected to political organisations Fatah and the PLO, the aim of GUPS was to protect and promote the rights of Palestinian students and to advocate for the Palestinian political project. At the centre of the poster is a design by Kamal Boullata (1942-2019), an important Palestinian artist known for his abstract works and use of graphic Kufic calligraphy. The poster calls for solidarity with the struggles of Vietname, Palestine, Rhodesia, South Africa, and Latin America.
