Central back panel, shoulder seams. Pieces added to the sides to form a flare with pronounced curved section over the hips. Short sleeves pieced at the back. There is a diamond shaped opening under each arm. Small stand-up collar nicely seamed around the neck. Very wide opening at the front tapering to the bottom; no overlap.\r\nMain fabric: 'gold' ground [silver-gilt close S-wound on a yellow silk core]. White leaves form an ogival lattice with a 4-petalled flowerhead where the lines meet. There are two types of floral spray in rows: [1] green leaves, pink flower which is not quite open and two large and two small buds; [2] round pink flower, fully opened, surrounded by 4 round buds and 2 flowers; green leaves.\r\nLining: roller printed cotton with a pink and red marble effect; faded at the front opening.\r\nFacing: striped woollen: red and white stripes each with a small floral sprig. There is evidence of an interlining under the facing - it has no pattern and seems to be a white fabric woven with a silver metal thread.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"designed and made by","id":"x28674"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"cotton yarn, woollen yarn, silk thread, metal thread, weaving, printing, sewing","categories":[{"text":"Textiles","id":"THES48885"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"MES","id":"THES48607"},"images":["2009CR5334","2009CR5310","2012FR2887","2012FR2888","2012FR2890","2012FR2900","2012FR2902","2012FR2903"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"001","id":"THES394936"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Jacket","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Iran","id":"x30220"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1800-1860","earliest":"1800-01-01","latest":"1860-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Length","value":"59","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"90.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"across sleeves and shoulders","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Woman's jacket, woven silk and metal thread, lined with European roller-printed cotton, Iran, 1800-60","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"Jennifer Wearden and Patricia L.
