In about 1730, the potters in Jingdezhen already mastered the use of pink enamel, which had been introduced in the colour palette for decorating porcelain, glass and metals a decade earlier. Due to the predominance of pink, this kind of porcelain was called <i>famille rose</i> by European collectors of the mid 1800s.","physicalDescription":"Porcelain bowl decorated with overglaze enamels in the <i>famille rose</i> colour scheme and gilding, with six panels containing landscapes painted in black and enclosed in brocade diapers; inside, six fishes and water-weeds, and borders of lotus scrolls and diaper with four reserved panels of emblems.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"porcelain","id":"AAT10662"},{"text":"enamel","id":"AAT14910"}],"techniques":[{"text":"overglazing","id":"AAT53918"},{"text":"gilding","id":"AAT53789"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Porcelain decorated with overglaze enamels and gilding","categories":[{"text":"Porcelain","id":"THES48907"},{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"},{"text":"Household objects","id":"THES48939"}],"styles":[{"text":"Qing","id":"AAT18478"},{"text":"famille rose","id":"AAT254689"},{"text":"Chinese export","id":"AAT120350"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"EAS","id":"THES48596"},"images":["2011EV6611","2011EV6604","2011EV6600"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"001","id":"THES342948"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Bowl","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"China","id":"x29398"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1730-1750","earliest":"1725-01-01","latest":"1750-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Salting Bequest","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Diameter","value":"38.6","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"From register (15.2 in)","note":""},{"dimension":"Height","value":"16.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"From register (6.4 in)","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Bequeathed by Mr. George Salting, accessioned in 1910.
