They were used in Europe as display pieces on the mantelpiece or on tables and cabinets placed against the walls. The design of ladies on terraces and flowers, arranged in petal-shaped panels, was a popular motif on the export blue and white porcelain of the Kangxi period (1662-1722).","physicalDescription":"Porcelain beaker-shaped vase with a convex middle part, painted in underglaze blue; the body is moulded with petal-shaped panels, arranged in four bands of eight and alternately containing a lady on a terrace and flowers in a pot.
