Follot’s designs are elegant and opulent with a richness of materials and decoration. These wares were labour intensive and required exceptional skill to produce, making the Follot pieces for Wedgwood especially rare, in fact, no other objects of this pattern or shape are known to exist. Acquired from the estate of fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019), the ‘Campanula’ set reflects the taste of its collector and was probably used by Lagerfeld as it showed some signs of wear and needed conservation.","physicalDescription":"Cup of rounded shape with striped pattern, alternating in black and white with gilded accents on the white and black lining to the rim. The handle shaped as an organically curled ring with gilding, the foot with embossed pattern and gilding. The saucer decorated in the same pattern, radiating from the centre, the rim lined in black.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Follot, Paul","id":"A2152"},"association":{"text":"designed by","id":"x40048"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Josiah Wedgwood and Sons","id":"A1450"},"association":{"text":"Manufacturers","id":"AAT25230"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"bone china","id":"AAT233473"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"","categories":[{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"WED","id":"THES270009"},"images":["2024NW3580","2022NG9333"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"003","id":"THES382863"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"cups","id":"AAT43202"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Etruria (Stoke-on-Trent)","id":"x33200"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"c. 1923","earliest":"1918-01-01","latest":"1927-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Purchased with the support of the V&A Americas Foundation through the generosity of the A.
