The concept is inspired by the connection of families associated with kinship sharing the same ancestor. Artist Gamzar uses Grasshopper, a visual  programming language, and parametric equations to design the structural mock-ups. Sharing the same design logic, different forms of bamboo ware in this series are rendered by modifying the  parametres. The works are then created by bamboo crafting. The object retains an unrefined quality  which is partly intentional to reflect the materiality of raw bamboo and lacquer. \r\n\r\nHong Kong-based artist Gamzar grew up in a Teochew-Hakka family and is a designer by training. He  became interested in bamboo work and after apprenticeship in Taiwan and Zhejiang, has been  making bamboo crafts with computer-aided design since 2017.","physicalDescription":"","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"bamboo","id":"AAT11873"},{"text":"lacquer","id":"AAT14916"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"","categories":[{"text":"Vases","id":"THES48879"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"EAS","id":"THES48596"},"images":["2022NH0958","2022NH0957"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"001","id":"THES398912"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Basket","id":"AAT194498"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[],"productionDates":[],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Crafts on Peels Foundation Gift","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Length","value":"230","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"200","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Height","value":"418","unit":"mm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Basket, woven bamboo, 2021, by Gamzar (b.1994), China, 21st century","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["FE.221-2022"],"accessionNumberNum":"221","accessionNumberPrefix":"FE","accessionYear":2022,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2026-02-09","recordCreationDate":"2021-12-07","availableToBook":false}}
