This style of engraving on metal is known as katakiri-bori and the angled cuts replicate the brushstrokes of a traditional Japanese ink painting. The sides of the drum are of the marbled and patinated bronze alloy known as mokumegane, a replication in metal of wood grain.","physicalDescription":"Box and cover.
