The collection was given to the V&A by the Public Record Office in 1960 after the closure of the Manchester Design Registry. Samples have been formally accessioned by the V&A gradually since 1966. The remaining textiles were formally acquired in 2021. The Manchester Design Registry textiles are duplicates of samples held in the Board of Trade Design Register at The National Archives, and by consulting the registration details there, it has been possible to date and identify the manufacturers of these designs.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Textile sample, Batik style printed cotton fabric, red, yellow and black pattern, manufactured by Naamlooze Vennoolschap P F Van Vlissingen and Company's Katoenfabricken, Manchester, England, 1946.","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Board of Trade Design Register: BT53/129"}],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["T.2351-2021"],"accessionNumberNum":"2351","accessionNumberPrefix":"T","accessionYear":2021,"otherNumbers":[{"type":{"text":"patent number","id":"THES51558"},"number":"410683"}],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-04-19","recordCreationDate":"2021-09-13","availableToBook":true}}
