It has a high neck, long sleeves, and it fastens with pearls. There is a machine made lace trim at the high neck and down the centre front opening. Lined with white silk and braid. The waist band is marked.\r\nTrain of cut and uncut velvet.\r\nSkirt of cream silk satin. It has bustle pleats at the back. The front and hips are trimmed with a panel of embroidery on net with pearls and satin stitch in a design of leaves and stiffened bell shaped flowers. Centrally there are overlapping lobes of satin trimmed with pearl fringe. The hem is lobed, coided and lace trimmed and has a pleated frill. It is unlined but has a buckram facing and a double brush frill. He had an international clientele and his extremely costly designs were particularly admired by wealthy Americans like Clara Mathews, who chose this dress. Faux pearls were a newly fashionable trimming for wedding gowns.
