Dating from the Unified Silla period (AD 668-918), which began when the kingdom of Silla unified the whole peninsula of Korea, the stamped decoration is typical of wares from that time. On the bowl, rows of stamped circles and larger triangles can be seen. The whole body is divided into sections The foot is also covered with stamped triangles, ridges and a chain of circles.","physicalDescription":"This bowl is on a high splayed foot with traces of kiln gloss over much of the surface. The decoration is complex; on the bowl there are three double rows of stamped circles beneath a row of larger triangles which themselves lie above a row of circles linked by small circles. The whole body is divided into sections by four relief flanges. The stem too is covered with stamped triangles, ridges and a chain of circles. In spite of this dense decorative scheme, the overall effect is almost restful, reflecting the potter's devotion to the Buddhist faith.\r\n\r\nColour: Light grey","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"Stoneware","id":"x30197"}],"techniques":[{"text":"Thrown","id":"AAT53908"},{"text":"incised","id":"AAT53847"},{"text":"carved","id":"AAT53149"},{"text":"fired","id":"AAT53887"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Stoneware, with traces of kiln glaze","categories":[{"text":"ELISE","id":"THES48961"}],"styles":[{"text":"United Silla","id":"x31278"}],"collectionCode":{"text":"EAS","id":"THES48596"},"images":["2006AU4917"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"137","id":"THES49876"},"free":"","case":"18","shelf":"7","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"BOWL,네귀달린 굽다리 단지","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Korea","id":"x30965"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"700-900","earliest":"0700-01-01","latest":"0900-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"20.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Cer, Korea, Silla","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"Beth McKillop. <u>Korean Art and Design</u>.
