He was one of the first three painters in Korea to be designated an Important Intangible Cultural Property for his <i>tanch'ong</i> paintings. <i>Tanch'ong</i> is the traditional craft of decorating important wooden buildings, such as temples, in the five primary colours of red, blue, yellow, back and white. Green is also often added in this colour scheme.","physicalDescription":"The painting (signed), depicts peony blossoms above rocks. The blooms are dramatically lit by white outlining.
