In the same year he was awarded the highest medal for photography at the Exposition Universelle in Paris. A continental European critic noted that 'English landscapes...are generally remarkable for their wonderful delicacy of outline, joined to artistic feeling and good taste' and praised the landscapes by Henry White (Cosmos, 3 and 12 October 1856).
