In the middle is a coiled dragon-like dolphin, with leafy stems issuing from its mouth and tail, supporting two lion's legs on which rests a tablet inscribed S.P.Q.R. Above this is a horned mask surmounted by a winged female demifigure on the head of which is a longnecked bird. Flanking these, symmetrically arranged in pairs, are young satyrs with tridents, birds with serpents in their bills standing on cornucopias from which are hung panpipes and tablets with the letters S and R, and monkeys holding up festoons and drapery.
