This poster has no year, but the inclusion of 'Charlie Doubles' ('Direct from America in his Greatest Cycling High Wire Act') and the photograph of him dressed like Charlie Chaplin, indicates that it may date from the 1930s when the silent film star Chaplin was extremely well known.\n\nActs on the bill include The Wonder Elephant; The Quebecs ('England's Greatest Riders'); Robert Fossett ('Champion Rider of Britain'); horses presented by Carl Roberts; the clowns Cigarette, Castapip, Funny Felix and Simpo, and the Arabian Stallion known as The Spotted Beast, presented 'for the first time in England' by Captain Francis Bailey.
