It is aongst a range of classic plastic 3D games produced in the 1970s, including Kerplunk and Mouse Trap. The mule piece has changed over the many years of the game’s manufacture - it was originally white and scowling, whereas it now a friendlier looking brown donkey. \n\nThe concept of the game was popular at the time, as a very similar game based on the film Jaws was also produced by Ideal Toys in 1975, where players would fill the mouth of a shark with various objects until the jaws of the figure snapped shut.
