Each Sibyl was named after the nation of her mission; thus the Erythraen Sibyl was named after Ionia. Her role was to teach enlightenment to the Church. She prophesied the details of the Passion and Resurrection of Christ and the Last Judgment, which was the subject of the altarpiece in the Sistine Chapel.","briefDescription":"Micromosaic picture depicting the Erythraean Sibyl after Michelangelo, micromosaic and marble with gilt wood frame, Vatican Mosaic Workshop, Italy, 1775-1800.","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[{"text":"Sibyl","id":"N2726"}],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"putti","id":"AAT250465"},{"text":"oil lamp","id":"AAT37630"}],"contentConcepts":[{"text":"religion","id":"x37580"}],"contentLiteraryRefs":["New Testament","Bible"],"galleryLabels":[{"text":"The Erythraean Sibyl\r\n1775-1800\r\n\r\nThis micromosaic is a copt of one of a group of five sibyls painted by Michelangelo (1475-1564) on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican Rome.
