His engraved flowers and scale motifs are strikingly similar to another famed Hugenot silversmith, Paul de Lamerie’s, ornaments. This suggests that both silversmiths worked together, probably even contracting the same specialist craftspeople. Their workshops were streets away from each other and Archambo’s son was briefly apprenticed to de Lamerie.\r\n\r\n Sir Arthur Gilbert and his wife Rosalinde formed one of the world's great decorative art collections, including silver, mosaics, enamelled portrait miniatures and gold boxes. Arthur Gilbert donated his extraordinary collection to Britain in 1996.\r\n","physicalDescription":"Silver tea caddy (one of a pair) of rectangular section, with floral scrolls and shells with panels of scalework and matting, in the centre of the front panel is an engraved crest. He then moved to Hemmings Row off St Martin's Lane By 1739, when he registered this his third mark, he was working at the sign of the Golden Cup in Coventry Street.
