The box is enamelled with the five chivalric orders he received: the Russian Orders of St Andrew (cover) and Alexander Nevsky (right side), Prussian Order of the Black Eagle (front), Polish Order of the White Eagle (back) and Order of St Anne of Holstein (left side).\r\n\r\nSir Arthur Gilbert and his wife Rosalinde formed one of the world's great decorative art collections, including silver, mosaics, enamelled portrait miniatures and gold boxes.  Arthur Gilbert donated his extraordinary collection to Britain in 1996.","physicalDescription":"A rectangular enamelled gold snuffbox each side engraved with a sunburst around an enamelled order or coat-of-arms bordered by ribbons and an engraved gold guilloche. On the cover is the Russian Order of Saint Andrew, on the front wall the Prussian Order of the Black Eagle, on the back wall the Polish Order of the White Eagle, on the right side the Russian Order of Alexander Nevsky, on the left side the Order of Saint Anne of Holstein, and on the base the arms of Korff, with crest and military trophies as supporters. The box is painted in enamel, representing the five chivalric orders or coat of arms and sashes that he received for his military service.
