The ballet showed a young girl (Joyce Meyers) playing with her dolls (Lydia Lopokova and Vera Pietro) and puppet (Idzikowski). Gibson MacCormack in the <i>Dancing Times</i> noted that Idzikowski’s role in the mimed playlet was performed ‘with his usual extraordinary skill’. Maurice Boucher in <i> Le Monde</i> described <i>Premier Amour</i> as ‘a ballet scene in which Mme Lopokova and M.
