These large floral compositions hung in different rooms in the house rather than being presented together as a pair. The artist used a huge variation of colours and techniques to create the highly illusionistic flowers, like elongated tesserae to look like painterly brushstrokes.\r\n\r\nRosalinde and Arthur Gilbert formed one of the world's great decorative art collections, including silver, mosaics, enamelled portrait miniatures and gold boxes.
