While the Neo-classical border of palmettes had been previously catalogued as circa 1770 (see Truman 1991), their quality and style demonstrate a later date, circa 1840 or after. \r\nSir Arthur Gilbert and his wife Rosalinde formed one of the world's great decorative art collections, including silver,  mosaics, enamelled portrait miniatures and gold boxes.
