Sebastian Guerint first worked from 19 Beak Street, St. James's, London. He registered three marks, one in 1776, and another in 1785, when he lived at 6 Maddox Street, Hanover Square, and a third on April 24, 1799, by which time he had moved again, to 37 Clerkenwell Close. It is this mark that appears on this box and gives evidence for its dating.\r\n\r\nSir Arthur Gilbert and his wife Rosalinde formed one of the world's great decorative art collections, including silver, mosaics, enamelled portrait miniatures and gold boxes. Arthur Gilbert donated his extraordinary collection to Britain in 1996.","physicalDescription":"An oval, enamelled gold snuffbox with fourteen oval reserves, each bordered in opaque white champlevé enamel.
