Paneth was a renowned chemist, lecturing and holding notable posts across the world. in 1913 he married Else Hartmann and had two children, Eva and Heinz (later known as Heinz Post). Following Hitler's rise to power in 1933, Paneth (of Jewish descent) fled Europe, settling in Britain. He became a naturalised British citizen in 1939 and adopted the name F A Paneth. In 1953, he moved to Germany to take up the role of director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry. He died in Germany in 1958.\r\n\r\nPaneth was a clearly skilled photographer yet pursued photography merely as a hobby - he did not exhibit his works during his lifetime.
