It was acquired by Colonel Charles Seton Guthrie in the mid-19th century to add to his renowned collection of Mughal hardstones, and sold at auction in 1875 after his death. It was then bought by Mr Alfred  Simson who lent it as part of his small collection of Mughal crystal to the museum in 1913 and 1919. His son, Captain Rupert Simson, sold it to the museum in 1920 in accordance with his father's wishes.","physicalDescription":"Box and cover, ribbed, with flower at the centre of the cover.
