He holds a rose in his right hand.  Dressed in Qajar style with a white collar decorated with flowers and leaves and with decorative cuffs.  He wears a belt which holds a sheathed dagger in place.  There is a bracelet on his right wrist, over the cuff of the robe and a string of embroidered pearls round his neck.  Embroidered pearls and coloured beads  form large panels on both upper sleeves. He wears a jewelled crown on his head with three short feathers.  This is framed with a light brown border creating the effect of a sash window which was a very fashionable architectural feature at the time.  There is a narrow blue border, a wide red border with a meandering stem in light and dark blue with blue, yellow and white pansy flowers embroidered with coloured silks.  Narrow black border and finally a red border.
