The new high-waisted and shorter-skirted designs introduced by Paul Poiret were a main cause for this change. During their life time Poiret and Paquin remained fierce competitors. This dress was probably inspired by the vibrant costumes of the fashionable <i>Ballets Russes</i>.\r\n\r\nThe pencil inscription 'Bruxelles' is found in the top right hand corner of the design, it could refer to the name of the collection for which this dress was designed.","physicalDescription":"'Bruxelles.'
